US Tariff Guide

Hi everyone! As you may be aware, U.S. customers may be subject to pay a 10% import duty, collected by USPS, for your package to be delivered. I plan to remain open to US customers, and support you guys as much as I can.

This page (hopefully) will act as a guide for any questions. If you cannot find your answer and want to get in touch then please contact me through the contact page. By placing an order on this site, you acknowledge the 10% tariff on imports to the United States.

Common Questions

What is this tariff?

On April 5 2025, the United States imposed a 10% tariff on most goods imported from all around the world, including the United Kingdom, overriding the existing trade agreements between the U.S. and UK.

The tariff is enforced by US Customs Border Protection.

Will this change in the future? I'm not sure. This 10% fee may go up or down. Any upcoming changes will be around July (after the 90 day pause) - and it all depends on what the current US Federal Administration decides on.

At the time of writing this, the UK is not included in the 90-day pause - (dated. 19th April 2025)

How do I pay?

After your parcel is sent via Royal Mail, it will land in the US and be handed over to USPS to finish the delivery.

Around that point, USPS will then deliver a fee notice with payment instructions to your mailbox/address.

The fee notice will tell you how much to pay, and whether to pay online or in person at your local USPS. Once paid, US Customs will approve your parcel and USPS will complete the delivery.

What happens if I don't pay it?

Usually, if you don't pay within 5-10 days, the parcel will be returned to sender or marked abandoned and destroyed by USPS.

I am not able to cover replacement costs in most cases.

Why can't you pay it?

I'm sorry, at this point, I can’t pay these duties on your behalf.

Customs decisions are made by U.S. authorities upon arrival, and I don’t control them. In this case, USPS is responsible for collection of duties. As the "importer", you are liable to pay those duties.

A gentle reminder of the terms stated in the Shipping Policy:

PLEASE NOTE; I am not responsible for delayed shipment or lost orders. If there are any issues receiving a parcel after it has been shipped, it is the customer's responsibility to get in contact with their postal service. I cannot offer refunds or replacements due to issues as such.
Please keep in mind customers outside of the United Kingdom may have to pay customs fees. I am not responsible for such fees, nor do I have any control over them.

What if I don't receive a fee notice?

In some cases, USPS may fail to deliver your fee notice. If you think you should have received your notice by now, or if you see that your parcel is delayed or wrongly marked "delivered", please ring/visit your local USPS to arrange payment and release your package.

Can't I pre-pay the fee at checkout?

I'm sorry, at this point, I can’t pay these duties on your behalf. Customs decisions are made by U.S. authorities upon arrival, and I don’t control them.

In this case, USPS is responsible for collection of duties. As the "importer", you are liable to pay those duties.
